Cameron + Dani | In-home Session | Thoughts on 2020 Quarantine

What a time to be alive! These days in our world are strange and unknown. So much heartache and fear for people personally and financially. As our country is quarantined to our homes, the essence of home is on my mind. What is the culture of our homes? What do they represent? Are they safe and welcoming for all? What will our kids say and think about their home they lived in when they grow up? Was it a life-giving and truth filled place? These are concepts I don’t have mastered, but desire for my home to embrace for all who dwell in + visit it. As we are confined to our homes, let’s have the mindset of rebuilding, restoring, and resting. Our society thrives on daily grinds, hustling, action, full calendars, overcommitting, and mental, over-stimulation. Maybe this is time to put life in perspective, and to give our attention and hours to the people that matter most. Let’s nourish our relationships during this time. Our families. Let’s date our spouse by going on a walk or a picnic in our yard, read books with your kids, fetch with your dog, hold each other for an extra hour in the morning, work through the difficult areas in our relationships with extra effort, and practice gratitude through it all. There is peace and joy to be found. Always. Fear and darkness won’t stand a chance.

With all of that in mind, I thought the timing was perfect to show you a glimpse into this sweet, sweet in-home session I was privileged to shoot a while back. From popcorn eating to trampoline jumping, it’s perfect for this season of intimate family time!

This is Cameron + Dani Philgreen. They are two of our dear friends, and we love them! They are life-giving, encouraging, they love Jesus with their whole hearts, and aren’t afraid to bluntly speak truth. They are the friends I might laugh with and cry with in the same day, and you know they’ll have your back. They open up their home to many, and know how to love people well. Doing life with them has been a gift.
This session was easily one of our most carefree and lighthearted ones to date. There was joy and laughter abounding, and it was beyond rad! The purpose of this session was to capture this season of their life in Lawrence, KS before they moved to Waco, TX. I think it perfectly depicts the joy that that home represented, and the deep love these two have for one another.

Hope you enjoy these frames, feel inspired to make life at home count, and feel encouraged by these words!
