Rose + Isaac | Vow Renewal | Styled Elopement

This day was one that we will not soon forget. Everything about it is so dear to our hearts, and we were amazed and in awe at the way the Lord orchestrated each detail - again showing that his timing and ways are far better than our own, and instilling in our hearts a deeper understanding of His heart for us.

At the beginning of 2020 we felt inspired to plan a styled elopement in a very obscure and underrated location, Monument Rocks. Anyone who thinks Kansas is fully flat will think otherwise after gazing at these amazing rock formations prominently placed in the middle of nowhere! A hidden gem to say the least! We wanted to give an opportunity for a group of local companies + vendors to creatively collaborate time and skills to help build our businesses as well as build a sense of community together. We are firm believers in uplifting and supporting other small businesses and entrepreneurs, and what better way than to collaborate on a creative project together. After weeks of planning, talking to vendors, and collecting needed items, all the while growing in excitement, COVID-19 hit. Due to shutdowns, we were forced to put our plans on a long pause.

During this time, something so profound was laid on our hearts, and we knew that when the time was right, we had to take action. We knew that there was a deeper need for this project that was so much more than just business growth and networking. We realized that this would be a missed opportunity if we didn’t act according to our convictions, and we are forever grateful that we did. We knew that we wanted to offer this day as a vow renewal for a married couple. We have always had a heart for marriages, and have desired to see a generation of marriages that thrive. And although we haven’t always had a perfect marriage ourselves, lasting marriages have always been at the heart of our company. Styled shoots for the sake of business gain and networking have a time and a place 100%, but we now knew that that this was not the time and we needed a focus shift.

As the country started reopening, we began to plan for this day again, now with a fresh perspective and direction. It came down to just two weeks before the session, and we were met with couple after couple cancelling for various reasons. We had a list of vendors on board, but no couple. Although it was discouraging at first, we trusted that the Lord would see this through. Finally we reached out to recent family session clients, Rose and Isaac, figuring their full schedule of raising two kids and running a business of their own would not have time for this, but I just went with a gut feeling. My message was met with tears of joy and gratitude from them, as they explained that they had been feeling a shift in their marriage and this timing was completely from God. They said it was a gift directly from Him, and even the date of the shoot had personal significance to them. It was just what their relationship needed. It was instantly apparent that this day had been planned for them alone, and we were so honored to play a role in it.

We all traveled to Monument Rocks and despite some major wind delays, the day was a dream. As well as shooting, Colton officiated their vow renewal, and they renewed their commitment to one another. Their song that had played at their wedding played again amongst the rocks, and they prayed and held each other. The presence of Jesus was tangible, and we were truly amazed at this beautiful story unfolding. After the ceremony, we frolicked through the KS prairie, photographing their sweet, renewed love. We then ate a charcuterie spread together, and of course lots of cake as we shared more of each other’s stories.

They later said that this day marked them, and was a gift they would not ever forget. We hope that this is an encouragement to all readers that when plans are changed or postponed, and the journey to get to where you want to be is bumpy, God may be planning something better than you could imagine.

Thank you to all of the amazing vendors and companies who gave of their time, resources, talent, and energy to make this happen. You were a part of something truly special, and we were honored to collaborate with you! You amaze us!
